2D MOT
Overview
The 2D Magneto Optical Trap (2D MOT) is a compact ultra-high vacuum subsystem designed for generation of high flux cold atomic beams used in neutral atom quantum computing, quantum sensing, atomic clocks and precision atomic physics experiments.
The system converts a thermal atomic vapor into a highly collimated beam of laser cooled atoms through resonant laser cooling and quadrupole magnetic field gradients. A dedicated Push Beam efficiently transfers atoms toward a Zeeman Slower or directly into a 3D MOT, dramatically enhancing loading efficiency and overall quantum system performance.
